We had the pleasure of dining at Scargo last weekend and cannot tell you how enjoyable our meals were. We didn’t have much, just a casual meal at the bar – just your mesclun salad with grilled chicken but it was SUPERB!!!! Jim the bartender did a great job and was very attentive although it was very busy. Thanks, Pat, Judy and Joan (in fact Joan was in the night before with her husband and had the same salad YUM)

I recently visited Scargo and the Sweet Potato Fries were totally Awesome. Can you provide me information on the Fries. I would love to try to get them here in Denver.

We had a wonderful party last week. How glad we are that we called on you and your excellent staff to help make our special occasion a huge success. Our guests are still commenting on how delicious the food was! We were both very pleased with everything – especially the clean up! Thank-you for your attention to detail at such a fair price. It’s obvious who we will choose for other special occasions.

What a pleasant surprise to receive your anniversary greetings last month. We recently took advantage of your gift offer, with a few friends who joined us in celebrating our 46th year together. We had a great time in the VIP dining room, plus the delicious dinners! The service was excellent; all the servers were very attentive and friendly. Our thanks to you both for a wonderful idea and, also, for the attractive illustrated map of Dennis. One of our favorite eating places is Scargo Cafe- we attended your 10th anniversary gala, and hope you’ll be serving us all for many more years.

Our family discovered the Scargo Cafe when it opened across the street from the Cape Playhouse. We are frequent flyers there and most every visit we receive excellent service, very good food- all at a reasonable price in a setting that is comfortable and clean. We’ve stuck with Scargo through thick and thin as it has evolved and refined it’s contemporary Cape Cod menu, and expanded it’s dining rooms. Scargo’s grapenut custard is a unique and dlightful dessert, one of the many menu highlights. Our trips to Cape Cod to visit family always include a meal at the Scargo Cafe. We think that Scargo Cafe should definitely be listed in Zagat!

We have many happy memories of Scargo Cafe, including the night my husband asked me to marry him.

Dear Scargo, We had a great time, one of the first to be seated. As we came in there was a young lady sitting by the fireplace, sipping a glass of wine. We joined her on the opposite couch and soon found ourselves in conversation. It turns out that she and our daughter have the same name and are in the same work in medicine. She was from out of state and was unaware of the special event occurring there until we told her about it. In the next few minutes, an older man came in, checked in and joined her on the couch. All four of us got into conversation and before we knew it, he asked if she would be willing to join him for dinner. Looking at us, she said “why don’t we get a table for four?” “Yes” said he, and over he went to the Hostess Station, requesting a table for four. We were soon seated at our table for four and found ourselves with Kathy, one of your very best waitresses. An evening of great food and conversation followed and our waitress, who was apprised of what had happened in the lobby, couldn’t believe it. Rather than our “party” occupying three different tables, we joined together to everyone’s great delight! Thank you for an evening of great service, great food, great wine and a chance to meet two wonderful people for a joyful evening. We gave each other hugs and went our separate ways, promising to meet next year at this time at Scargo Cafe. An early Thanksgiving Blessing.

Keep us posted. We’d love to host a wedding, or at least help in orchestrating a proposal!

I was very impressed with the ambiance, food, and service. It was my first time here and I loved it. I joined the VIP club as a result. I knew immediately I was coming back here!

Some friends and I have just returned home from a 2 week vacation in Dennisport. On Friday 7/16 we dined at your restaurant after hearing much praise from my cousin who resides in Dennis. The food, (seafood strudel, scallops, fettuccini alfredo) and the service more than justified my cousin’s recommendation. I have been searching for a fettuccini to match the flavor of the one that J.C. Hillary’s in Dedham MA. used to have years ago. I found it… thank you very much! Our waitress was Kim and everything was outstanding. We were celebrating a birthday and she could not have been more cordial. Right down to adding candles to the dessert we had ordered.(we’ll get back to that.) Monday 7/19… having talked so much to a visiting friend who was joining us for dinner, we returned to the Scargo Cafe. Again the service (a young man whom I can’t remember his name) and food (veal parmagiana, N.Y strip sirloin, surf and turf, scallops, fettuccini appetizer) were extraordinary. And dessert (we’ll get back to that too). Friday 7/23… knowing the vacation is ending, the Cafe was a unanimous vote for dinner. Again, it surpassed our expectations. Service (Geri) food (lobster bisque, fettuccini, scalfredo) and dessert (we’re getting there). At each visit, all the cast and crew were pleasant, helpful and courteous. The quantity and quality of the food was exceedingly good. We have determined that a 2 hour drive from north of Boston will be well worth the trip. We will be back. Now, after all this praise, can I please have the recipe for the chocolate cake used in the Divine Desert. I’m sure the other deserts are fine, but this one is simple, but above all the rest. If I were a critic, you’d get ***** for Food, Service and Ambiance. Thank you for making dining the way it should be.

Dear Mr. Troutman, I’ve been living on Cape Cod since I was 20 years old. I’m now 51. I can’t tell you what a breath of fresh air you and your establishment are. The many perks you send to us, as customers really makes us feel so special, and gives us a sense that we belong to a special eatery that values our presence. Whenever anyone asks us, “Where should we go?” We always say, “Scargo!” We appreciate the fact that no matter how many visits we’ve had the food and service are always the same quality, and not many can boast about that!

We’re now on your mailing list and wanted to let you know…. Scargo Cafe has the best eats on the Cape in our humble Maine opinion! My husband and I and our daughter found Scargo Cafe last summer while staying on Cape Cod in Harwich at a relative’s cottage. We were on vacation for a week in August when it rained all week! Your cafe was a bright spot in our rain-soaked week! We love to dine out, our vacation custom is to try a new place every night….but SCARGO was such a wonderful experience, we came back twice! As well, we took your menu to put in the cottage information book for future visitors. And we’ll be back again this summer, whether we’re spending a week on Cape Cod or not. We loved the atmosphere, the food and especially the fine service so much so that we’d drive all the way down from Sebago Lake Region in Maine just for dinner! Thank you and we’ll look forward to enjoying another fabulous dinner with you this summer!

Dear Peter and David, Last Thursday, May 19, 2005, fourteen cousins from Canada, Kitty Hawk, New Hampshire, and New Jersey gathered at Scargo for a reunion “banquet”. It had been ten to forty years since many had seen one or another and everyone had a great deal to talk about. All agreed that Scargo provided a perfect place to be (the porch—it has a door). All were enthusiastic about the food which they pronounced “Great”. Even a number remarked on the gracious, unobtrusive and efficient service Alison provided. She had the extra burden of dealing with the door. And she handled all challenges beautifully, with a smile. Now the elderly cousins have lots of new memories to brighten their days. It was a pleasure to vote and help you into the ZAGAT group. Scargo Cafe is one of the true jewels of the Cape in Restaurant choices. Though we live up in Sandwich, it is a serene scenic view down 6A with the pleasure at dining at your Cafe at the end of the ride. True, we go to the Playhouse sometimes, but most times it is simply to enjoy your good food, great staff, and the relaxation only found at Scargo.

I just have to say that Scargo has been and will always be one of my favorite “spots” to dine. My husband and I actually had dinner on Valentine’s Day after a rough evening with the kids. How wonderful it was to be waited on (J.R. is just the best waiter!), succumb to tantalizing appetizers and enjoy a fabulous meal at the Scargo! Nothing says relax and enjoy better than an evening at Scargo Cafe! Thank you!
